Hawaii Ranks as Most Expensive U.S. Destination to Spend Presidents' Day Weekend

According to the latest survey conducted by CheapHotels.org, Hawaii's Kihei, Maui is the most expensive destination in the United States to spend this upcoming Presidents' Day weekend. The cost of lodging over the prime Presidents' Day timeframe of February 14–17 served as the basis of comparison.
Situated along Maui's southwest shore, Kihei easily snagged the number one spot on the survey with an overnight rate of $416 for the most affordable double room. Rounding out the Top 3 were, on opposite ends of the spectrum, a major ski destination and a sunny hot spot. Taking the second and third spots on the survey were Vail, Colorado and Key West, Florida. Average rates of $402 and $399 per night over the three-day holiday weekend propelled these destinations into the Top 3. In coming up with the rankings, only such hotels with at least a 2-star rating and averaging positive overall customer evaluations were considered by the survey.
The following table shows the 10 most expensive destinations in the United States for this year's Presidents' Day weekend. The prices shown are based on the daily rate for each destination's cheapest available double room (minimum: 2-star hotel) for the holiday time period spanning February 14 through 17. The rates were established on February 6–7, 2014 based on research conducted on the hotel comparison website Kayak.
