The most expensive New Year's Eve destinations in the United States
Updated: December 29, 2016Miami Beach has just been deemed the USA’s costliest destination for New Year’s Eve. A CheapHotels.org survey came to this determination after comparing 30 major destinations across the nation. The cost of each locale’s lodging on December 31st served as the basis of comparison.
In coming up with the rankings, the survey established a minimum price point for an overnight stay in each destination. The date of interest was December 31, 2016. The survey considered only those hotels with a rating of at least 3 stars and those with a coveted location near the city center/ beach. An overnight rate of $366 for its cheapest room puts Miami Beach at the top of the rankings.
Taking the second spot on the survey is the popular resort of Atlantic City , New Jersey. Celebrators who want to ring in the New Year in this Atlantic Coast hot spot can expect to pay $351 for the least expensive double room. Comparatively speaking, that figure represents a 232% rate increase over what they would spend on a typical Saturday in January. It also earns Atlantic City the title of biggest rate increaser among all destinations the survey covered.
In Florida's other top tourist destination, Orlando, New Year’s Eve travelers can find a double room from $179 per night. The most affordable destination to usher in 2017 is Salt Lake City, Utah. There an overnight guest can expect to be able to secure a room for only slightly more than $100.

The rates shown reflect the price for the cheapest available double room (minimum: 3-star hotel) on December 31st. The percentage changes reflect the difference compared to the most affordable double room on January 7, 2017.
