Miami Beach has just earned the distinction of being the priciest U.S. city to spend New Year's Eve. The latest survey from CheapHotels.org came to that conclusion after comparing 30 major U.S. destinations on the basis of their lodging cost.
For comparative purposes, the survey established the minimum price a hotel guest will have to spend to stay overnight in a double room in each destination on the last day of the year. The survey considered only those hotels with a rating of 3 stars or higher and those situated near the city center/ beach. In the end, Miami Beach took the number one spot with a nightly rate of $360 for the most affordable room.
Based on that price, the Floridian beach destination beat out even the typical frontrunner, New York City. In fact, to spend New Year's Eve in the Big Apple revelers will have to pay $354 for the night. Taking the number three spot is the seaport city of Charleston, South Carolina. Celebrators there can expect to pay $339 to stay in the cheapest double room.
