Travelers Give Bad Ratings to Miami’s Budget Hotels
November 16, 2015If satisfaction is a top priority, then booking a budget hotel room in Miami could be a risky proposition. A recent survey from CheapHotels.org has found that the dissatisfaction rate exhibited by overnight budget hotel guests in The Magic City is higher than anywhere else in the country. The survey specifically compared 30 U.S. destinations, with the quality of their 2-star hotels serving as the basis of comparison.
The survey used the hotel booking site Expedia to come up with its rankings. The ratings awarded by budget hotel guests after their stay were compiled for the past year and then averaged for an overall percentage ranking. Scores of 4 or 5 were deemed positive, 3s were considered neutral and an assessment of 1 or 2 was considered negative.
When the results were compiled, Miami came in worst, with 34% of budget hotel guests expressing disappointment with their hotel stay enough to award the establishment a negative rating. In the disapproval department, that rating outranks all destinations considered. Comparatively speaking, Las Vegas, which ranks as the survey’s second worst city for budget hotels, came in with 25% of its reviews being given a negative score.
In contrast, budget hotels in Seattle ranked highest on the survey. Budget hotel guests in the Emerald City expressed a 62% approval rating with their hotel stay. Of the remaining ratings, 20% of guests gave their Seattle stay a neutral ranking of 3, while 17% exhibited disapproval. Joining Seattle at the top of the podium are Denver and Baltimore, both of which came in with 60% of their budget hotel reviews being positive.
The following table compares 30 destinations in the USA based on the quality of their budget hotels. The numbers indicated reflect which percentages of the hotel reviews over the last year have been positive, neutral or negative.
